In the South Carolina Republican primary race against Lindsey Graham, Graham challenger, Lieutenant Colonel Bill Connor has received an endorsement by a major national tea party leader.
Retired Major General Paul Vallely has given his endorsement via a 3 minute video (above) which he recently recorded and volunteered to publish.
Vallely has become one of the leading heroes of the tea party moment over the last few years. Vallely retired from the Army after serving is in such positions as Deputy Commanding General, Pacific Command. Vallely is now the Senior Military Analyst for Fox News, and also is the founder of Stand Up America, a PAC which seeks to restore the American republic and to replace establishment republicans with constitutional conservatives in Washington. Stand Up America describes itself as “The Standard Bearer for the Conservancy of the Constitution”. Vallely also serves as the Military Committee Chairman for the Center for Security Policy.
Vallely spends much of his time traveling the nation speaking at tea party events and forums like the South Carolina State Tea Party Coalition Convention held in Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago where Vallely participated in a panel discussion on national security and the current state of the US military.
Vallely has in many ways become a central figure in the tea party movement with his unwavering and unapologetic resolve in publically calling on Americans to oppose the “tyranny” of President Obama and his administration, as well as calling out republican leaders like John Boehner for doing little or nothing to oppose it. Vallely has called for a massive march on Washington where US citizens would send an unmistakable message that they will no longer tolerate the destruction of their country in what he calls “the most critical time in our history.”
Vallely stated that, “From all I’ve seen, Bill Connor is exactly the type of man we need in the United States Senate. If anything, he’s such a bright fresh new face with a most impressive background in civilian life, in school, and in the military. As you know, the lifetime appointment that we seem to have in the Senate and in Congress must be changed. And we need to go to term limits; and with that we need to put in someone like Bill Connor to replace Lindsey Graham in South Carolina. We sometimes don’t know how Lindsey Graham is going to vote. He goes one way and goes another, or he’s a sidekick to John McCain, and sometimes they appear clueless in their efforts represent the United States.”
Vallely continued, “I am not completely convinced that he (Lindsey Graham) is a leader that can carry America forward. In many cases I think Lindsey Graham, like John McCain and others of the republican establishment just don’t get it, they don’t understand. They don’t understand the tea party, they don’t understand grassroots organizations that are standing up now and saying we need a change in America and we are not going to follow the progressive route of Obama and his ideology. It’s high time for South Carolina to send Lindsey Graham into retirement. I believe Bill Connor is the best choice for South Carolina and for America. I am particularly proud to stand with Bill, because you see, he has that extra something special, something special we always look for in an Airborne Ranger or an infantry officer. 23 years ago Bill took an oath to protect and defend the United States Constitution when he joined the Army. Since then he’s defended our nation abroad in combat and in peace time, and now in the Reserves also volunteering to go back to those areas of conflict wherever they may be. But more importantly, he’s ready to defend the American Constitution on American soil and free our nation from the liberal chokehold President Obama and his cronies and shameful republican establishment accomplices like Lindsey Graham have imposed. Bill has withstood Taliban bullets; he can certainly withstand the bullets of Washington DC.”
Vallely concluded that, “Your vote in the republican primary for Bill is crucial. So please my friends and fellow patriots of South Carolina, stand with me and stand Bill as well as others like him around the nation. Make a check out to Bill, help with his campaign. Let’s all stand with Bill Connor and send a true public servant to Washington, which will help set America on a new path.”
When asked by Conservative Fifty Dot Com, Connor said of Vallely’s endorsement that, “I am honored and humbled to have received the endorsement of such a well respected American patriot and leader as Major General Vallely. Vallely’s contributions in fighting to uphold the US Constitution and to restore our republic are too many to list. But as a US Senator I will take that fight to Washington and will not relent.”
Connor is a 23 year Army veteran having served as an Airborne Ranger Company Commander, General’s Aide, and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves . He currently is Director of the Army’s Command and General Staff College (ILE) in S.C., and is a member of the U.S. Counterterrorism Advisory Team. Connor volunteered for Combat duty in Afghanistan where he served as Senior US Advisor in Helmand Province and was awarded the Bronze Star.
Connor is a graduate of The Citadel and the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Law where he earned a Juris Doctorate degree. He is an attorney and Law Partner for “Horger and Connor, LLC where he has earned an “AV Preeminent” rating, the highest peer evaluation rating of ethics and ability for an attorney practicing law in the United States. Connor is a former candidate for S.C. Lieutenant Governor (making the runoff election in the Republican primary 2010.) Connor also served recently as GOP Chairman for South Carolina’s sixth district.
Connor will face Graham in the upcoming June primary.
