Attempts to Remove “Christmas” From America Will Not Succeed

The fight toward the secularization of American culture continues unabated, as we witness a “Christmas/Holiday” spectacle in Rhode Island as a microcosm of the nation.  Last year, Governor Lincoln Chafee decided to rename the traditional state “Christmas” tree the state “Holiday” tree.  Despite a resolution within the Rhode Island legislature to go back to Christmas tree, the Governor was unmoved.  In continuing his new secularized tradition, Governor Chafee justified his decision thus: “When I’m representing all of Rhode Island, I have to be respectful of everyone”.  During an interview with Bill O’Reilly on the “O’Reilly Factor”, Governor Chafee called Fox News “angry” for challenging his decision.

 

Additionally, Governor Chafee stated his belief in the “evolving” nature of American culture away from Christianity.  Essentially, Fox News and Bill O’Reilly were in the wrong and hateful for desiring to keep names like “Christmas” in the public square.  Most of us can remember syndicated columnist Gene Lyons’ comparison of those defending Christmas to the Ku Klux Klan, Nazi Party, and other despicable hate groups.  From Gene’s editorial of only a few years back, “Why Do The Heathen Rage” he wrote: “the War on Christmas theme made its first appearance on Henry Ford’s 1921 anti-Semitic classic ‘The International Jew’…. it’s now being peddled by Irish Catholics like O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Pat Buchanan….. crimes once held to be ‘Jewish’ are now called ‘liberal’.”  What amazing ignorance of America’s feelings about Christmas.
